I remembered an interesting video about Maria João Pires. She was invited to a concert to perform a piano solo. But as soon as the orchestra played the first notes, it turned out that instead of what she was prepared for, the orchestra began playing the 20th concerto in D minor, which she was not ready for. She needed to enter at some specific bar and – total facepalm. But no worries, she gathered herself and played everything as needed. The video vividly captures the entire spectrum of her emotions. The conductor, Ricardo Chailly, did a great job too 🙂
Of course, it was a rehearsal, albeit a public one, with people in the hall.
