Major breakthrough: created a prototype of the recommendation system using the built-in rule-based mechanism in Hybris. As a result, recommendations can now be created interactively, using the complex logic of linking accessories to products or similar products to each other.
Custom-wise — only the recommendation engine itself, which turned out to be relatively simple, as the most complicated part is already present in Hybris.
There’s a video linked which initially has detailed slides followed by a demonstration of how this works for me. For high-traffic sites, caching and/or using external Drools, which I wrote about on the blog earlier, is still needed.
