I’ve released an update for the hybris Runtime Development Tools. This toolkit is designed to simplify and accelerate development on hybris. It will be clear not only to those initiated but also to the curious.)

The aim of these utilities is to shift from a web interface to the console. Usually, people do the opposite, replacing console commands with a web interface for aesthetics and convenience. But personally, I find the web interface painfully slow, especially when you need to perform the same operation 50 times a day. Plus, it’s not very customizable. The utilities allow solving many tasks faster and better than the standard Hybris interface. Most importantly, they can be used in conjunction with other tools, from Excel to Perl. For example, you can export all products and check in Excel if there are any anomalies in the data.

In the link below, there is a video where I demonstrate the capabilities of the new utilities. For a complete picture, also watch the video from the previous article on the blog.

…The police obtained surveillance camera footage showing the swimmers smiling as they exited the house after the incident. An analysis of the video revealed the athletes were in possession of the wallets they had previously reported stolen…

Is it just me, or is “X-ray analysis of the video” kind of funny?

The original on Daily Mail (although that source is another story): Records retrieved by investigators from the X-ray machine through which the athletes passed in the Village also showed that the men were carrying all the belongings which they had claimed in sworn statements to police had been stolen.

Four new posts have been added to my blog. I have launched a project “hybris Runtime development tools”, a set of console utilities for performing various tasks associated with development on SAP hybris.

Most of these tools will be somewhat or completely unclear to those who are not familiar with the “topic”. In simple words, these utilities enable actions that developers usually perform with a debugger in hand or using existing Hybris tools, though only implemented in forms within the administrative interface. For a one-time task, these forms are quite handy, but when you repeat the same operation thousands of times a day, you crave more automation. That’s where my little utilities come in: to work more efficiently.

The second reason for their existence is flexibility. Customizing Hybris is not straightforward (although doable), but the tools can easily be made convenient for your specific needs. For instance, exporting all orders to Excel, locating the one that’s causing incorrect calculations, and making the necessary code correction. Previously, this wasn’t as easy due to limited export-import capabilities in Hybris.

Update on my blog: Hybris Development Skill Tree. All competencies, technologies, and knowledge required for hybris development. Everything is organized into a structure that makes it clear what needs to be learned before what. The larger the font, the more important the technology. Essential items are marked in red.
