At the new “La Traviata” from the Metropolitan Opera. Intermission. I look around. A full house of people at least older than me. I wanted to write “with rare exceptions”, but somehow, they are not to be found at all. True, I haven’t left my seat yet. This is how the opera audience is aging.
This is already the fourth staging of La Traviata that I’ve seen, and it seems to be the most interesting. Maybe because it’s the fourth one.
