Reading the news – “amendments are being considered that would make it a criminal offense to insult WWII veterans.”
I wonder, is it possible to insult a deceased veteran? It seems from the text that they don’t necessarily have to still be alive.
Besides, as of the beginning of 2019, there were about 70,000 actual combat participants left in the country, and unfortunately, this number is greatly declining because they are all over 90 years old. But besides veterans, there is a category of “people equated to veterans.” As of the beginning of 2019, there were more than a million such people. For instance, this includes “home front workers” – more than 760,000 people, residents of the besieged Leningrad – about 96,000 people, minor prisoners of fascism (almost 104,000), and widows of disabled and participants of WWII (240,000). I wonder, does the bill cover the 70,000, or the million, or, if deceased veterans are included, millions?
