A goose landed on our pond, and the pond froze over night with a beautiful, clear crust. I can’t figure out why he’s cursing so loudly, but perhaps it’s his first winter, and he’s a bit shocked by what’s happening to his beloved pond. Recently, it was even warm up to plus 16 degrees Celsius,

Maybe he’s shouting “hey somebody look, I’m walking on water, hey hurry up and melt already! Where is everyone?”

Also, he occasionally takes off and lands on the ice at speed. On his feet. They naturally slip a lot, and the goose slides many meters past where he would if it were water. That’s probably very unusual for a bird. I don’t know how to capture this; he’s very sudden. I still think he just needs someone to share his intense emotions with.
