Who has a Mac — why not try on your own? You need to open a group of photos in Preview (by highlighting them with your mouse in Finder and selecting Open in Preview). In Preview, they will open as thumbnails on the left side of the window. Click any thumbnail and press Cmd-C to copy the file to the clipboard. Then go to Finder in the target folder, and press Cmd-V. For some reason, pressing Cmd-V in the target folder creates not one, but two files for me. Like IMG_1234.jpg and IMG_12342.jpg.

By the way – maybe someone has an easier recipe for “viewing a hundred photos and selecting a few to send in a separate folder.” I always did it the above way, or the same, but without Preview, using quick view (press space on the file in Finder). The second option doesn’t create a duplicate, but it’s inconvenient for other reasons.

Also looking for an AirDrop substitute. Sometimes it doesn’t work, and I have to restart the phone. It fails in different ways. It may not see the other phone, or it may see it, but when sending, the “something is being sent to you” window doesn’t appear. Restarting helps, but it’s a harsh method. Maybe there are apps that do the same thing as AirDrop. You might say now, “any messengers like Telegram, WhatsApp, Facebook.” No, that won’t work. Firstly, they send through their server. That means, they load it there, and then you have to download it from there on the other device. It’s very slow. Secondly, they like to repackage images “for the web,” reducing the resolution. The degree varies, but the quality always suffers. In Telegram, you can send pictures as files, then it’s all good, but because of the intermediary server, it ends up being slow, even with a good connection (and lots of photos).
