I roam around a small museum in Wilmington. What’s interesting here is that you can leave offline comments on anything. Occasionally, flame wars are thrown onto pieces of paper taped up with duct tape. People are decent, they don’t stick anything on Washington’s forehead.

Together with @[100001772111225:2048:Timofey Klyubin] we integrated VueStorefront with SAP Commerce. It’s a free (!), but very advanced store that has everything except an admin panel and an ecommerce engine. In our solution, its role is performed by SAP Commerce. An interesting feature of the store is that it can operate in a semi-offline mode. That is, the internet goes down, but navigation through the store, the cart, and checkout work almost like with internet. There are also other interesting features, such as Server Side Rendering – a request to the product list via a menu click builds the page dynamically in the browser, while a URL-request builds it on the server. Overall, the advantages are better appreciated by engineers, for the end user it’s just very fast.

I’ve now slightly advanced in Node + VueX, in various Service Workers, and the like. Proud 🙂 Thanks to Timofey, he wrote a converter from Elasticsearch to Hybris, because this store speaks the language of Elasticsearch.

Found a place to practice on a real drum set. My expectations were higher) the snare turned out to be more resonant than I needed, while the hi-hat, on the contrary, was more muted, and too low (it doesn’t go higher). The bass drum – quieter. Additionally, a stupid chair that can’t be adjusted properly. But it’s still cool! I got to play a real drum set! Also fell in love with the Roland TD-25 selling there — just perfect for me: it’s quiet, which is great for an apartment, and sounds cool. But, damn, it’s expensive.

I wonder why YouTube doesn’t allow the audience to translate voice-over videos and offer the most popular translation in a section titled “Videos Declared by Authors as Translations”. Accordingly, poor translations would disappear from this section due to dislikes. And translators would earn from ads. Of course, there should be some sort of approval mechanism by the content owner for the right to translate.

Secondly, YouTube could find and link popular videos that only differ in their audio tracks. There are quite a few of these, but they are not connected in any way.

I am sure almost all of you have heard “Fedot the Sharpshooter” performed by Filatov, the author of this satirical poem. I really love “Fedot the Sharpshooter” and have listened to it about ten times.

A while ago, I learned that there is a sequel by actor Andrey Averyanov, in the form of a solo performance “The Tale of Yegor, the Tsar’s Mainstay, the Son of Fedot the Sharpshooter, a Gallant Young Man”. I won’t compare it with Filatov’s version as opinions vary, but I highly recommend listening to it as well. It seems to be quite timely with beautiful allusions to reality, and in the style of Filatov, though the language is simpler.

But what’s interesting – there is no text of this poem available online in any form. No books, and you can’t find its content on Google. Videos on YouTube have gathered several million views in total. Yet, the text is nowhere to be found. Interesting, did the author not want to earn money? It’s unclear.
