With Liza to Philadelphia, we took our huge chessboard (we got used to playing every day). Naturally, we didn’t lug it around the city from the car, but we couldn’t do without chess today 🙂

Encountered an interesting brand in Philadelphia. “I hate Steven Singer”. That’s what the billboards on the roads say. Steven Singer is a well-known American jeweler specializing in diamond jewelry. Actually, the slogan from the acronym is the name of his online jewelry store. Hatred served as the foundation for the brand. Steven decided to advertise his products by explaining to everyone why they could hate him. It’s said that the brand originated from a series of stories by Steven on local radio about why one should hate his jewelry store, mainly revolving around quirky relationship dilemmas between couples. An interesting example of anti-ideas in branding.

I’ve long dreamed of coming here. This is a library in Baltimore. Closed on Saturdays and Sundays, so I took some time off especially for this. On my way to Philadelphia

Peabody Institute. Just taken

Funny how Amazon decided to mock in the style of the St. Petersburg metro – some law requiring personal data? no problem. Send resumes by regular mail to India, where they will digitize it and forward it to them 🙂

A very beautiful concert, and it makes a great background for work. Highly recommend. Nils Frahm works in the neoclassical genre, blending electronic music with traditional instruments. His music is calm and unhurried, and it now substitutes Simeon ten Holt’s Canto Ostinato for me.
I stumbled upon some interesting statistics. By 2030, according to UN projections, Russia will see a population decline of six million people. Out of 232 countries, 31 have a negative population growth rate projected for 2030, with seven of those being former Soviet republics. Among these 31 countries, Russia ranks first in terms of absolute population decline, but this is likely because we are the 11th most populous country in the world. It might come as a surprise to some that Nigeria has one and a half times the population of Russia, and by 2030, it will be twice as large, despite being the size of the Tomsk region in terms of area. African countries are growing the fastest: in terms of relative growth, they occupy the entire top of the list. https://esa.un.org/unpd/wpp/Publications/Files/Key_Findings_WPP_2015.pdf

Funny. I just stumbled upon this: in SAP hybris config, you can specify not only TRUE, “1”, ON, or YES, but also JAWOLL, which in German means “yes” in military slang (like “roger that!”, “yes, commander!” and all that)
