magnificent! From what I understand, this is a series with a paid continuation

Just came across this. Google seriously claims that there is a 5-hour difference between Central European Time and Eastern Time. In fact, it’s six. It seems to not consider daylight saving time, because the query “3pm CEST in EST” correctly shows 9 am for me, but the query “3pm CET in EST” incorrectly shows 10 am 🙂

“Our News”. On July 17, employees of the “Washington Harbor” trading complex in Georgetown reported that the K-5 security robot, created by startup Knightscope “to predict and prevent crimes”, was found in a fountain near the building.
The device had been purchased “recently” to patrol the shopping center’s parking lots in Washington. According to witnesses, the robot autonomously moved into the fountain and “drowned” itself, after which it ceased to function.
Liked tweet: We were promised flying cars, instead we got suicidal robots.

Black to move. And in her hurry, for some reason, Lisa plays pawn A7. This is followed by three consecutive forks, ultimately leading to the inevitable loss of nearly all black pieces. Of course, there are worthy moves instead of that pawn, but we were simply tired, and the “games of thrones” were quite something). #ourevnings

Every day, Elizaveta Alieva and I play 2-3 chess games. But yesterday we decided to “diversify our leisure” and played “Maharaja”. We named this game “The Hunger Games” among ourselves. You’ll soon find out why.
The starting position is quite amusing. The black pieces are arranged in a classic manner, but there are hardly any white pieces. The whites have only one piece — the maharaja, which combines the capabilities of both a queen and a knight. At the start of the game, the maharaja is placed on any (player’s choice who plays white) square of the first rank, and black makes the first move in the game, with players taking turns thereafter.
Pawn promotions are forbidden. Whites win by checkmating the black king (thanks to its power, the maharaja can checkmate on its own, without needing other pieces). Blacks win by capturing the maharaja.
The game has a winning strategy for black, but it’s not so easy to figure out.

Someone should invent a browser plugin that identifies unavailable YouTube videos and redirects to an available one (if there is one, then on YouTube itself). The thing is, when a video is unavailable, a user can’t even search by keywords, because they are missing (see screenshot). But they were there when it was still accessible. More often than not, the video can be found on the same YouTube site using the same keywords.

What to see in Brussels? What should not be missed? I’ll be there from July 22 to July 29. Should I brush up on my French, or does everyone speak English there?

Finally reached the top of Old Rag. A 6 km uphill walk to an elevation of 760 meters and the same distance back, part of the path consists of a pile of boulders that are not easy to overcome. It’s like climbing up 234 floors, and then immediately back down. Oh, everyone’s legs are going to hurt tomorrow… https://www.hikingproject.com/trail/7005428

Just published a new article in my blog.
This article began with the simple question: why does the search query “camera lenses” lead to tripods in the Electronics SAP Hybris demo storefront instead of the camera lenses products? There is a relevant category named “camera lenses” and a product having “Lens” in its name. In the article, I explain all details of relevance score calculation and also show how to configure the hybris search module better. It will help you to better understand the search processes in hybris, be able to explain such cases to the customer, or fix the situations like mentioned above by changing the search configuration in the right way.

In the latest “Meduza” audio podcast, the hosts “show” listeners excerpts from the ballet “Nureyev,” supporting the thesis that it’s quite something. They comment on what’s happening on stage, making it easier for us to form an impression. Well done!
