I have devised a training method for myself. I will try it out tomorrow morning.

I want to try running 5-7 km in such a way that every half-km is exactly around, say, 2:30 minutes plus or minus 2-3 seconds.

For this, I will need a mechanical stopwatch (like this one: http://goo.gl/iILgLy) and a circular stadium track.

At the start of the circular track, I turn on the stopwatch, and at 4-5 clear reference points around the stadium track, I remember which second I reach each point. Each new lap, I reset the stopwatch at the same place, arriving at the points at the correct second (hence the mechanical one – it’s easy to estimate how much time is left and simple to reset). I record my pulse and compare from week to week to see if there is progress. The goal is to achieve an extremely steady pace accurate to the second over 5-7 km. Gradually try to look at the stopwatch less often.

I will try this tomorrow morning, as some entertainment during the training process)

Here you should read Shakespeare in Russian after comparing various translations and the original. I wonder, would Shakespeare recognize his sonnets if they were translated back into Old English?

Fradkin’s translation

From the wondrous, we expect wondrous rises,

For the rose of beauty in the inevitable hour

Will perish, and only the tender offspring

Can save it from eternal darkness.

––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Translation by Vladimir Mikushevich

Look, how they multiply in bloom

The desired, beautiful beings,

As the rose bequeaths its beauty

To the future rose before withering.

–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Translation by V. Benedictov

Once Cupid — the god of love deeply slept,

Having cast aside his torch, dangerous for all hearts,

And to this place suddenly a circle of nymphs flew

Who had sworn to live in passionless innocence.

––––––––––––––––––––––––

Original:

From fairest creatures we desire increase,

That thereby beauty’s rose might never die,

But as the riper should by time decease,

His tender heir might bear his memory

I looked at the results of the men at the Moscow Marathon out of curiosity. Most run 42 km in 4 hours, and a ten-kilometer dash in 50-55 minutes – well, this is commonly known. But the age distribution is amusing – note how few people under 24 years old even run the ten-kilometer – 8%. In the marathon, 73-year-old Ivan Demonov tackled the distance in 3:45.

We have an open position for a Lead SAP hybris Developer. Looking for talents.

Around pure Java, there are several dozen technological topics that a lead developer needs to master to some extent. The full list that I managed to compile includes over a hundred topics – but it’s more for defining the scope rather than an actual test. I plan to use it as a basis for dialogues during interviews.

Maybe I forgot to mention something important?..

Help! Please recommend a lawyer or give advice please, anyone knowledgeable.

Rosgosstrakh sent a compensation offer for an accident in January 2014. It’s a substantial amount. I plan to visit RGS soon to clarify details. Basically, my questions are –

a) what to pay attention to

b) is it possible to arrange for installment payments and have there been any precedents

c) are there people who, for a fee, could reduce the amount by asking the right questions to the insurance/note issues in the documents etc.

I plan to request the insurance company for the car inspection report, repair estimate, and the traffic police report and decree confirming my fault. Maybe something else?
