Update on hybrismart:

I am gradually posting my notes from the process of learning the modules included with Hybris. There are about five hundred of them, and what’s good about them is that they come with patterns for implementing various tasks encountered in real projects. This is what is called Learning By Examples. Very useful to avoid accidentally “reinventing the wheel” where everything has already been done smartly.

In total, there are about 500 extensions in Hybris, most of which are delivered in source code (amounting to about 15000 classes). A super-brief analysis of some of these is what this note is about. I will merge the articles later, add navigation, etc.

It turns out, on eBay there are one billion (!) “live” listings (ebuyinc). On Amazon – about 600 million. In December last year, Amazon had 200 million visitors per day (comscore), which is roughly one and a half times the population of Russia per day. Revenue in 2017 was $177 billion, and this year it is expected to reach $400 billion (hmm; source-bloomberg). That means, in one year, Amazon will surpass Russia (exports in 2017 were ~$360 billion, of which just over a third were non-commodity non-energy goods).

The future is already here) Duplex is an AI program capable of speaking in a natural language (in the examples – English).

There are demo recordings at the link, and even if you don’t know English, listen to them just as a fresh example of synthesized speech.

Essentially, on the other end of the line, it’s impossible to guess that you’re talking to a robot.

At the link, the developers ordered some so-so food for themselves, sitting pleased)
