A very cool popular lecture on particle physics by Dmitry Kazakov. It’s fresh, literally from the day before yesterday. I highly recommend it to everyone interested in how the world works. Despite its excessive “popularity”, which is dictated by the format of the Arché lectern, it’s very sensible. Watched for two hours without taking my eyes off it. If I had such physics in my childhood, I would not be working in e-commerce now. The next one will be on the first of March, and another one at the end of March.

I’m not sure whether this is more about Ringo Starr or Shina, but it’s insightful

Very sensible initiatives to improve the situation in Russian cosmonautics include building a new Roscosmos building in the shape of a rocket. Together with his proposal to rename “Federation” (since a female name for a future spaceship is not quite suitable), it underscores the prestige of Russian cosmonautics so much that one might even decide there is no need to build the ship at all. Gagarin’s name will surely be sufficient for another fifty years at least. Here’s a hint: raise the importance of April 12th to the level of May 9th (and altogether cancel December 12th – nobody knows it anyway) and make April 12th a parade of space forces and achievements every year.

Imagine that aliens visited Earth, gathered data, and wrote a report to their bosses, including something like “the planet is inhabited by microorganisms, living predominantly in water and on/in multicellular organisms, among which arthropods prevail, mainly springtails, ants, plants, and beetles. We managed to establish communication with some microorganisms, as they most resemble us, the aliens. We are working with ants and beetles.”

I’m playing “Si tu vois ma mère” by Sidney Bechet. Certainly, this should be listened to on a saxophone or at worst on an accordion, but we make do with what we have 🙂 I just can’t understand why the recording sounds somewhat harsh when the live sound from the instrument is much softer. Maybe I haven’t quite figured out Garageband yet. Also, I really need to work on the dynamics, I seriously “cheat” with it during recording. Along with Bistro Fada, both tunes are included in the “Midnight in Paris” soundtrack. And here’s my Bistro Fada ”

Passed the SAP Commerce Cloud 6.7 Developer exam. I already had the v5 certification, but it was long overdue for an update.

Be sure to watch this wonderful lecture about how we make choices, illustrated by choosing spaghetti sauce, and why focus groups don’t work. The whole lecture is in this sauce. And indeed, “a crucial step in understanding our own desires and tastes is realizing that we cannot always explain what we truly want.”
